It’s been said by Denis Leary that “Not eating meat is a decision, eating meat is an instinct.” If the meat displays in Farm Fellows are anything to go by, Leary was telling the truth. One literally has to stop oneself from ordering biltong with a huge basket as everything in the store looks so fresh and delectable.
The store has a great ambience to it, with its friendly staff greeting you with a wide smile as you step in. There’s great lighting, delectable varieties of meat, spices, sauces and everything that will add a complement to your meat purchase, all at great prices.
Farm Fellows chopped competitors out this year as they were voted “Best Butcher” by consumers. One step into the store and we already knew why. Here are five reasons why you should shop at Farm Fellows for your meat:

Somewhere in the quiet community of Langenhoven Park, lies a gem so well hidden that only a few know about it. Carefully placed among the greens of Bains Game Lodge, you can find Bush Pub, a safe retreat for sports and food lovers alike.
Bush Pub came as runner-up in the Best of Bloemfontein award for the Best Place to Watch the Big Game and by big game, we mean the Cheetahs! This gem, which has big screens all over for the perfect view when you’re watching your favourite sports game, also has great specials on food and drinks.
We caught up with Gerdre Kruger, who is one of the five partners who launched the pub in February 2015. He explains that the inspiration for this comfy spot in Langies came about after observing night clubs and pubs which were always too fast paced. Kruger adds that the businesses he and his partners observed in Langenhoven Park didn’t allow for customers to have a meal, chill with friends and watch the big game in a chilled environment. They all felt the need for a more stable pub that could offer customers the opportunity of going to a pub that didn’t feel like a night club but provided them with something more practical and comfortable for a night out.
The pub boasts a variety of awesome specials on drinks, which include specials on wicked wine, popular coke and KWV brandy, and its colourful cocktails. The pub also serves scrumptious lunch-time specials which run from 11am to 1pm every single day. Some of these specials include mouth -watering steaks, crunchy Chicken Schnitzel and saucy wings to keep you going back for more. As if the specials weren’t enough, Bush Pub also gives people 10% off their lunch-time specials bills.
There’s a kiddies room to keep the lil’ ones occupied as you wait for your food and drinks. What we particularly found very interesting was the fact that the smoking and non-smoking areas were literal mirror images of one another- just that the one is for smokers and the other one is for non-smokers. How’s that for commitment to ensuring that no one group gets more preferential treatment over the other? And in case you’d like to mix business with pleasure, the Langies based pub also offers a function area for year-end functions and other corporate events.
Customers are urged to look out for the growing pub’s annual Gold Day on the 31st of March 2017, which will be held in the event area of the pub. Those attending can expect to be entertained by Afrikaans funny man, singer, and storyteller Andries Vermeulen. Participants will be provided with branded T-shirts and lots of great prizes will be won!
For more information on this event or to just simply get yourself a “dop” with a filling, yet inexpensive meal, hurry down to Bush Pub at Bains Game Lodge in Langenhoven Park.
